Pastor's Pulpit

Merry Christmas to everyone! I trust your family is getting ready for Christmas and will be sure to keep Christ in your Christmas. So many get wrapped up in the commercialization of Christmas that they miss Who's birthday we are celebrating. We are getting ready for a special day at our church, we call, " I Love Jesus Sunday " Every year we have a guest preacher to come an preach and usually our Christmas program is that Sunday night. This year we have Evangelist Mike Renfrow back with us and he always does a great job. Please pray for our church and come a visit us on that Sunday. God bless you. Here is a message preached recently at our church.

" The blessings of Goodness "

( Psalms 21:1-3 )

In vs. 3 the Bible says, " For thou preventest him with the blessings of goodness." Here the word prevent means to go before. It is like the word used in I Thess. 4:15, where we will not rise before those in the graves. So in other words, going before us are the blessings of goodness. Along the pathway of life, God is going to give us His blessings of goodness. God has been good to all of us, and truly we have his many blessings going before us and following us. Just consider how good God has been to us. How many times and how much has He blessed us? Just go back over the last year of your life and try to count the many blessings God has bestowed on you. You will find yourself unable to count them all.
Let's see some of the examples of the blessings of goodness that God has given us as found in His word in Psalms 21.

I. Salvation ( vs 1 )
When we think about the good things the Lord has done for all of us, we think about God Himself. We reflect upon how good the Lord has been and what He has done. Jesus Christ went to the cross, He suffered and bled-died- then was buried, and on the third day rose again from the dead. He is alive forevermore. We serve a Living Saviour today. We are saved by His marvelous grace. Now we were sinners, lost on the way to a devil's hell. Jesus came to seek and to save that which was lost.
You and I didn't receive salvation because we deserve it, no, we are saved because of Christ. We are saved because of the mercy and grace of our loving Lord, Who purchased our pardon. All glory and praise to Him. ( Ps. 21:5-6 ) Philippians 2:5-11

II. Supplys our Needs ( vs. 2, 4 )
Our hearts desire. Read Ps. 37:4-5, For those who delight in the Lord and commit their way unto Him, the Lord says He will give us desires of our hearts. I am thankful for the things we often take for granted. Life is a gift, I am thankful for a good life. I'm thankful for where God has brought me from. I am thankful for my family.
Have you thanked God for your sight, hearing, taste, for your health. So many today would love to have good health, we do take so much for granted.
Notice vs 2, it says, " hast not witholden the request of his lips. " I am thankful for answers to prayer. God has done wonderful things for us in answer to prayer. ( Phil. 4:19 ) It amazes me to see God do so many things in answer to prayer.

III. Security and Safety ( vs. 6-7 )
You know what, we are blessed forever. God's promise of security. He will keep us in His care. He will provide an eternal home for us. ( vs. 4 ) ( length of days forever ) I'm going to live with the Lord, and serve Him in His kingdom. ( Ps. 23:5-6 ) In vs. 7, the king trusts in the Lord- David found out that through God's mercy and grace, He would preserve His kingdom.
There is safety with the Lord. Oh how many times has the Lord preserved us, and protected us and watched over us? May we never take for granted the blessings of the Lord.
Let us thank Him for every blessing. Let us give ourselves to Him in service.

IV. Service will be rewarded. ( vs. 3 )
Crown of gold, one day our labors will be rewarded. Let us give thanks that He chooses to use us. Present your body, your hands , your lips, your life, a living sacrifice to God, which is reasonable service. One day it will be rewarded. The goodness of God, the blessings of His goodness. Everything we have is because of the Lord. Praise His name.
I am thankful for salvation, thankful for Him supplying our needs,
I am thankful for the security and safety and service that will be rewarded.

God bless,
Pastor Taylor
